How it all started

The conference series has its roots dating back to 1977, at a seminal conference hosted at INSEE, Paris, and organised by Pascal Mazodier, Jacques Mairesse and Alain Trognon (documented in the Annales de l’INSEE, volume 30-31).

The current guise of the International Panel Data Conference series dates back, however, to 1987 and the first conference organised at Université Paris XII-Val de Marne by Pierre Blanchard, Georges Bresson, Jean-François Malecot, Claude Mathieu and Patrick Sevestre.  Since then every other year up to 1996, and since 1997 every year, the conference features an ever increasing number of papers and presentations.
